I have been the Chief Executive of the Energy Saving Trust since 2003 - an organisation dedicated to helping and advising people on how to save energy - and therefore lowering their carbon footprint in the process.
During my time at the Energy Saving Trust I have learned it's not so difficult to 'walk the talk', to take simple measures to save energy wherever I can - or to buy energy efficient products.
Energy waste has an impact on everyone; people don't have to be passionate, just practical. And as a dad, I'm aware that my daughter's children will be around in 2100: a sobering thought when it comes to protecting our future environment.
Whilst I have previously enjoyed the challenge of working in the commercial sector, the diversity and positivity of working for an organisation like the Energy Saving Trust is unbeatable. There aren't many jobs out there where the actions you take can help solve a global problem like climate change.
To support this commitment I have taken a Non-Executive Director role at the Improvement and Development Agency, a position on the Editorial Board of Sustain magazine, and a seat on the UK Energy Research Centre Board. I am also a member of the Climate Change Commission.
